The Powerful OnePlus 6: Flagship Performer for its Time

The OnePlus 6 was released in May 2018 as OnePlus’ most advanced smartphone at the time. Though a few months older than the 6T, it still brought flagship caliber hardware at a more affordable price.

Display: The 6 sports a 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED display with the same FHD+ resolution as the 6T. This gave the phone a small notch and minimal bezels for an immersive viewing experience. The screen supported HDR content as well.

Performance: Driving the phone is a Snapdragon 845 chipset, the most powerful mobile platform of 2018. It’s paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM depending on the variant. This combination provided incredibly smooth performance across all tasks without any stutter. Games ran smoothly on the capable Adreno 630 GPU as well.

Camera: The dual rear camera setup includes a 16MP primary sensor and a secondary 20MP depth sensor for AI scene detection and portrait mode effects. Videos can be recorded at 4K resolutions up to 60fps. For selfies, there’s a 16MP front camera.

Battery: Keeping the whole package running is a 3,300mAh battery, which was large at the time. OnePlus also bundled their Dash Charge fast charging tech, allowing a day’s power in half an hour plugged in.

Software: OxygenOS based on Android 8.1 Oreo provided a clean interface and regular updates. The OnePlus 6 is no longer supported but custom ROMs can extend its lifespan.

While older than the 6T, the OnePlus 6 remained a powerful option when new and showed OnePlus’ expertise in high-specced phones at competitive prices. It still handles daily use well for those who prioritize performance over newness.
